One Buffalo library reborn as community room

Anonymous Patron writes “From The Buffalo News. The paid staff may be gone, but the county left behind most of the books and four computers. A group of volunteers hope they can do the rest for library patrons – now and in the future.
The benefit to the neighborhood will easily outweigh the cost to the city, predicted Lovejoy Council Member Richard A. Fontana, who pushed to reopen the library and will oversee its operation as a reading room and community building.”

    Wonderful!!!
    Wow we gutted library funding but heck we found out volunteers can staff the library. Great! Glad the director didn’t decide to curtail new material purchasing. Anyone with an MLS that thinks this is good news should think about the wonderful job volunteers could do with their position.

    Materials
    Why were the materials not transferred to other library branches that stayed open? Is this representative of how these libraries were being managed or was this an agreement with the community when the branch was closed?
