Ohio Judge sentences mother to read to her children at the library

The Reader’s Shop shares this story from the Toledoblade.com (Ohio).

“Common Pleas Judge Alan Mayberry has sentenced a Perrysburg Township woman to perform
200 hours of community service. Rather than picking up litter she’ll be reading to her
children at the local library.

Judge Mayberry said the idea came from his wife who has been frustrated by the number
of parents who do not read to their children.

The Director of the Wood County District Public Library, Elaine Paulette, has agreed to have her staff help with the selection of appropriate books. She stated ‘I think it’s a positive situation all around.'”

[Note: 1. Her crime is drug-related.
And 2. I cannot tell for 100% sure from the article whether she is sentenced to a total of 200 hours or if she is sentenced to 200 hours plus the 200 hours at the library. I assume it is just the 200 hours at the library. Anyone? – A.K.]
