Novelist William Styron Dead at 81

William Styron, the Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist whose explorations of the darkest corners of the human mind and experience were charged by his own near-suicidal demons, died Wednesday in Martha’s Vineyard, Mass. He was 81. Here are the NYT obit and AP obit for Styron, an author who felt that all of his works had one theme in common…”the catastrophic propensity on the part of human beings to attempt to dominate one another.”
