Novelist Anne Rice says she’s leaving Christianity
Anne Rice has had a religious conversion: She’s no longer a Christian.
“In the name of Christ, I refuse to be anti-gay. I refuse to be anti-feminist. I refuse to be anti-artificial birth control,” the author wrote Wednesday on her Facebook page. “In the name of … Christ, I quit Christianity and being Christian. Amen.”
Left the catholic church
She left the catholic church but according to the article she has not abandoned here faith.
Although no longer part of any denomination, she remains a believer and continues to read theology and post Biblical passages on her Facebook page. (From the article)
What does this have to do
What does this have to do with Library Science?
What does this have to do with Library Science?
We catalog & circulate her books at an astounding rate?
It’s still better than an infomercial.
Fine
What is the fine for leaving the catholic church?
So should we keep tabs on an
So should we keep tabs on an author’s personal views because his/her books circulate?
It just seems a little irrelevant.
didn’t she stop writing vamp stuff because of her religion?
maybe the poster is hopeful that she will begin writing popular fiction again? but if this has become a celebrity author gossip site, did you see that outfit Stephenie Meyer wore yesterday? puh-leese.
Ahhh Good Ol’ Anne Rice
We talked about some old times
And we drank ourselves some beers
She’s still crazy afler all these years

Look at me…Look at me!
Note to Anne…Those who follow Christ, as you claim to still do, ARE CHRISTIAN.
The wider view
There is a big difference between those who follow the teachings of Christ and those who call them themselves Christian, but merely use the Bible as a crutch to rationalize their petty bigotries. In the case of Roman Catholicism, the entire structure is rotten with institutionalized bigotry and intolerance.
There is nothing that cannot be found offensive by someone, somewhere.
I totally agree…
Every time I get the urge to return to the practice of Catholicism, the beautiful mass and other holy ceremonies, something like the treatment of pedophile priests bears its ugly face, and I return to the simple, basic, faith passed on by the Roman Catholic organization.
oh brother . . .
I hope she understands that not all Christians follow the Catholic way. Not all Christians are anti-abortion, anti-gay, anti-birth control, etc. I wish she would have just said she was leaving the Catholic faith.
Yes, and those Christians
Yes, and those Christians who aren’t pro-life and pro-traditional marriage are foolish. You cannot pick and choose what to believe out of the Bible. You cannot say you’re a Christian and then proceed to ignore the parts of God’s word you don’t agree with. The Bible is clear about the sanctity of life and the sanctity of one man, one woman marriage. Rice and the others should be willing to follow God’s view, not wanting to make up their own version of ‘truth’
You’re a bigot, too…
According to you, you can’t pick and choose. So do you not eat shelfish? That’s a sin. What about pork; do you eat it or touch it after it’s dead? Do you trim the hair around your temples? Wear garments of two different kinds of thread?
I could go on and on here. If you claim to follow ALL of the Bible, without picking and choosing, perhaps you should go review some of what you’re neglecting. That’s the problem with most so-called Christians. They make the same claims you just did, without double checking the facts of their own religion.
Get a clue: your Bible/faith is ONLY used to justify hatred anymore… with remarkably FEW exceptions.
