North Carolina Jury: Race not a factor in firing librarian

The jury deliberated about an hour before voting that a librarian deserved no compensation because county officials had legitimate reasons for letting her go in 1998. It was the second trial of the case in a little more than a year in Durham County Superior Court. In June 2004, another jury deadlocked 10-1 on whether race was a “motivating factor” in the county’s decision not to keep her as a children’s librarian at the Stanford L. Warren Branch.
