Normative Data Project is live

drdata writes “The Normative Data Project (NDP) is a large database of transactions-level data from a set of public libraries. The Website is now live at:
http://www.libraryndp.info. And the database is now open for those who have subscribed.

“Transactions-level” means that data on circulations at the member libraries is available along with collection information such as titles and type of material (books, DVDs, etc). The data from NCES, as edited at NCLIS, is included as is an integrated subset of data from GeoLib.

The Web site should by the end of the week have preliminary reports but access to the data themselves is through subscription or by contributing data.

And, to answer the first question everyone asks: there is no personally identifiable information in the system. Not any. Library users are lumped into broad classes: adult, juvenile, and such so that we can tell which are the most popular DVDs borrowed by adults but not who borrowed what.
