No Skateboarding @ the Gwinnet County (GA) Library Branches

Librarians now have it in writing (a handbook). Making loud noises, skateboarding and fighting are grounds of removal from the county’s 14 library branches.
Months after disruptive behavior forced library officials to hire a police officer to monitor the Dacula library branch, the library board of trustees approved a written code of conduct. Nancy Stanbery-Kellam listed security as her No. 1 priority when she took the helm of the system in June. Report from the Gwinnett Daily Post.

    well it certainly avoids controversy
    Tough spot being the pigeon for the home school mafia. How do you appease them without appearing to be the leader of Vichy Gwinnett Public Library. Security is a good issue to choose. Lots of headlines but essentially missing the mission of libraries while appearing to be a good librarians concerned about safety.

    Loud Noises
    I and other staff members make loud noises while working in the library. Sometimes it’s necessary and sometimes it’s unintentional but it still happens.

    Basically I think that “no loud noises” is a little vague.
