My Humbul, My Gateway

Derek writes \”If you are tired of having to maintain a page links to Web sites, especially in humanities subjects, then you might be interested in an online service I found. The Humbul Humanities Hub which maintains a catalogue of Internet resources, lets registered users embed catalogue records directly in their own web pages. It\’s done using a bit of javascript which leaves Humbul to actually maintain the links. Available metadata is quite extensive and you can add your own annotations. Downside? Well, apart from the javascript bit, you can\’t add your own links (only suggest them to Humbul), and should Humbul be down then your links might disappear I suppose. Oh, and you need to have created a web page on which to include the records. If you combined this technology with something similar for getting records out of OPACS and into Web pages then you\’d have a pretty easy reading list creation tool.
