Maya Angelou book controversy good for local sales

Authors must hope and pray for censorship, it helps sell more books! Up In Wisconsin librarians and booksellers know why Maya Angelou’s “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” is flying off bookshelves.

After selling its copy, Book World, 85 S. Main St., received more copies Thursday morning, said Store Manager Mary Dickmann. The downtown shop usually carries one copy, but demand spiked around Nov. 24th ; the day after a story about an attempt to remove the book from the Fond du Lac High School English curriculum appeared in The Reporter.
