Maricopa Community Colleges Spends Millions On Computer System With No Results

A Sad Tale from Arizona where Maricopa Community Colleges spent 13 years and tens of millions of dollars trying to replace its obsolete student computer network. After three aborted attempts, the new system still isn’t in place.

The district’s top officials, including Chancellor Rufus Glasper, rejected warnings from their auditors and technical experts that its most recent effort to replace the network, a $22 million plan started in 2001, would fail.

At least $25 million to $30 million was spent developing the system since 1994, plus more than $15 million in salaries, budget records indicate.
