Man Convicted of Publishing Mein Kampf

Anonymous Patron writes “The Folks @Kuro5hin have A Thread On a Czech publisher who was given a three-year suspended sentence for publishing Hitler’s Mein Kampf. The charge brought against him was for “promoting Nazism. More specifically, the publisher, Michal Zitko, was prosecuted under Article 260 of the Czech Penal code, which bans providing support to any organization that promotes national, racial, class or religious hatred.”

    Mein Kampf
    When we look at such a book and how it has been studied and used it really has two aspects. One is the historical value to understand the mind of one of the world’s most hated dictators and how he followed through on his plans. The other aspect is the implications and uses of such a publication. Since the defeat of Hitler there have been numerous variations of what we call neo-Nazis. These groups go beyond Hitler and create their own theories based on Hitler to hate and discriminate against more minorities. As far as point number one, people doing reseacrh can find numerous copies of the text. As far as point number two publishing such a book with a world that has witnessed a marked increase in anti-Semitism can only serve as fuel for growing hate groups.

    The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, the czarist hate peddling anti-Semitic piece is currently being published in many Arab states. I don’t think they are all students of Czarist History.

    Ah, but an idea is not responsible for the people who believe in it. If someone kills Jews because of his belief in naziism, he is responsible for his actions. Besides, people are socialized with their core attitudes by the time they are ten years old. If you grow up to be a skinhead or supremacist, it derives from that socialization. Not too many ten year olds are reading Mein Kampf, I’ll warrant.
