Maine’s Library Mascot is Named: Baxter, a Coon Cat

Congratulations to Baxter, the new Maine State Library mascot and the individual who chose his Maine-ly name, Ben Allen of Pittsfield, ME. Here’s the story of his elevation to the position of official mascot.

Now that this puss has been designated to fill these mighty boots, a “use policy” has been established so that his costume will be paraded decorously around the state. He’s currently booked through mid-August.
