Anonymous Patron writes “TheKansasCityChannel.com Reports onlibrarian Martha Smith. If you step inside the Coal Creek Library on a Sunday, you may chance a meeting with the librarian who’s been coming to work there since 1926.
“I always like to read,” librarian Martha Smith said.
Smith is direct descendant of the people who started the library in 1859. The doors to the current building opened in 1900.”
Retire!
Talk about an entry level gap! Get these people out ! Are you over thirty looking for a career change? Too late, suck it up! Are you a librarian looking for a “new challenge?” Try Wal-Mart greeter! Do you remember card catalogs? Because they sucked! Thinking about library school? Do not pass go, do not collect unemployment, go straight to a temp agency.
Re:Retire!
I hope that was a joke. Maybe someone could moderate it as funny for me to get a clue. Overall, my response is “leave the little old lady alone.” I don’t think she’s a librarian, or salaried. I’ve lived in tiny rural towns with volunteer “librarians” and the only books were old books. Trust me, they were god sends.
Re:Retire!
Not sure if it was a joke, but it’s not nice to kick a grandma. Send her flowers instead.
Re:Retire!
Now now.. in this age of job hopping, that dear lady should get a commendation! There is something to be said for dedication, concern for children’s education and good ol’ respect for the written word in actual book form. If she wasn’t doing a good job, they would have given her the sack. Get off granny’s back and give her a hug!
