Sounds a bit more like campaigning for office and less like a job interview, but in Indianapolis, that’s (partly) how the library board is choosing a new Director. Members of the public grilled the three finalists for the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library’s chief executive office position today, in the fourth of five interviews in the hiring process.
The candidates current interim director Laura Bramble; Councilwoman Jacqueline Nytes; and Michael Williams, resource manager for the library’s south region fielded questions and spoke about their qualifications for the job.

Before I read the story I figured people would be coming out of the woodwork to ask what they felt about Dumbledore being gay, the library’s refusal to require group prayer before the staff starts its day, or how the would encourage the homeless to masturbate, or find Jesus depending on the wierdo.
Rather the public seemed more concerned that its money was sell spent.

When the freaks show up and start complaining about nonsense the new director should be allowed to shout (to the people who didn’t go to the meeting – not the 35 that did) STFU you didn’t go to the meeting.

Well, from the article: ….moving the library past controversies regarding the Central Library development project that has left the project $50 million over budget.
The $50 million would have bought a lot of books! When that kind of money is wasted, the public tend to involve themselves.
