Library can’t afford its OPAC; might have to return to cards

The Cooperstown (N.Y.) Crier reports that the Cooperstown Public Library only has enough funding to pay for its online catalog service for another year or two, despite two fund-raising campaigns. If it can’t find the money somewhere, it might have to return to using a card catalog. Says Library Director David Kent: “It would be like going back to the Stone Age. It’s tricky. We’re sort of in limbo. We’re hoping people will realize the importance of having the online catalog and everything that goes with it. But the possibility of losing it is there.” [More]
