Library book is smut, Oregon mother says

The Wisconsin State Journal has an unusually long Story on a challenge to “Knocked Out by My Nunga-Nungas” in a Middle School library.

A parent said she was alarmed by the book’s sexual overtones and by its trivializing of issues such as a boy pulling on a girl’s breast.

“We’d defend the right of students to have access to this book,” said Beverley Becker, the ALA’s Office for Intellectual Freedom associate director. “If this particular family doesn’t like this book, we’d encourage the parents to address the issue with their child, not make a decision for everyone else in the school.”
