Graham quiet about his role on Patriot Act says Sen. Bob Graham is on the campaign trail, and he isn’t bringing up that he co-wrote the controversial bill in the Senate. He says on he is “unhappy with Attorney General John Ashcroft’s implementation of the antiterrorism law”
Meanwhile, The Statesman Journal in Salem, Oregon, says Ashcroft needs to be reigned in. They say before lawmakers agree to broaden the USA Patriot Act, they should tighten oversight of the existing law. If America becomes a police state in order to trap terrorists, the victory will be hollow indeed..
