Librarian’s tip leads to fraud arrest

Police say an astute librarian out in Provo, UT helped them arrest a man who is accused of using library computers to make fraudulent medication prescriptions.
Police responded to the library when the librarian called with her suspicions.
Officers saw the man altering a prescription document for OxyContin at the Spanish Fork Library, 49 S. Main, according to a police affidavit filed in 4th District Court.
The man printed out the document and was going to leave when police stopped him, according to the affidavit.

    Why is it OK for her to look at his prescription writing on the computer? How did she know he was not a physician? Either things on the computer are private or they are not.

    Public computer = no right to privacy? After all you could be a terrorist or pedophile! 😉

    I very much doubt that Doctors scan in prescriptions forms and alter them on public library computers which is what I guess this person was doing (as it involved a computer), or if he was looking something up on the computer and hurridly trying to rub out something on a prescription form it still looks suspicious.
