JET writes “I think that this has been posted before but the results of this poll have changed since the last time it was mentioned here.
Parent’s poll result – 3% want Barbie to be a librarian
Kid’s poll result – 37% want Barbie to be a librarian
Here is the link to the poll where you can vote as a parent
And here is the link to the poll where you can have a child vote “
There doesn’t seem to be a link where librarians can go to vote.
Maybe they are afraid…
that their child will grow up to be a librarian? I know my parents were!
Re:Maybe they are afraid…
They’d all do much better — parents and kids — to worry about people wanting to grow up to be Barbie.
Where’s the link to vote for all Barbies on the planet to vaporize simultaneously, taking their Corvettes, Dream Houses, and Malibu Kens with them?
I’m with the parents on this one
I’m glad I’m a librarian, but I’m sick of Barbie getting the underpaid female careers. Even when she’s a doctor she’s a pediatrician. I understand why nobody wants Barbie to be a computer programmer (what’s the point of dressing a fashion doll in ill-fitting khakis and torn t-shirts that say “RTFM”?), but a brain surgeon would be fun to dress, or an astronaut, or a cop, or even a pet store owner?
I promise you librarian Barbie wouldn’t come with a reference desk. She wouldn’t be reorganizing the digital archives or cataloguing the collection or repairing books. She’d be doing storytime to a bunch of cranky fashion-doll children. And while children’s librarian is a great career choice, let Ken have a chance with the moppets. Barbie wants to be a structural engineer this week.
Is the deck stacked against Barbie?
I–and several of my concerned friends–have each cast a vote, for Librarian Barbie, yet she doesn’t seem to be moving up in the rankings.
Could Mattel have a vested interest in a non-librarian Barbie? Is the architect mafia really that powerful?
“I’m not saying, but you’s guys gotta lotta load bearing supports in this office, it would be a. . . ya know. . .real shame if they didn’t suddenly not bear loads, ya know?
