Librarian has Impressive Story to Tell–Her Own

Bob Cox sends along this story from the Fort Wayne (IN) News Sentinel about Almetta Russell-Amali, the daughter of Arkansas sharecroppers who earned her MS in library science last month. Russell-Amali received a standing ovation from her classmates who knew the inspiring story of her attempts to educate herself despite segregation, poverty, and working alongside her parents in the fields. Russell-Amali returned to get her master’s degree after her being challenged to do so by her oldest son, Michael. She is a mobile books librarian for the Dallas (TX) public library system.
