Internet Still No Death Knell for School Libraries

A small survey by the Center for Educational Services of middle-school teachers in Maine found that 72 percent prefer the Internet as a resource for supplemental teaching material, while only 18 percent of teachers go to a library first. Despite these statistics, the computer’s ever-expanding role in the classroom is not considered to be the death knell for libraries and librarians. More data here .

    18% is not so good
    But wouldn’t it be nicer if the stats was the other way around: Libraries were visited by 72% of the teachers? It’s like losing a game 72 to 18. It’s not such a good scoreline.
