    Just as an aside …
    There are supposedly 3 patron saints of archivists, librarians and libraries: Lawrence, Jerome and Catherine of Alexandria (who’s famously connected to the eponymous Catherine Wheel).

    Nevertheless, I am a fan of illuminated manuscripts and appreciate your sharing this article with us. It brings me back to wanting to reread ,The Name of The Rose, though I don’t think anyone was grilled in that story. I really would have preferred a more romantic saint.

    I’m with you bookworm. I prefer my librarians pickled. Here’s s simple recipe: Take one librarian (please!). Immerse into one happy hour for 1-3 hours. Remove librarian. Call a cab. Voila! Pickled librarian.
