Hillsborough: Tug of war over bingo hall

The city should simply condem the building if it wants it that badly. However, I am certain that a compromise can be reached if people stop acting like three year olds. Old people yelling never and over my dead body are not conducive to negotiation.

Old people can easily play the victim, and they often do when it is to their advantage. They are not the victim in this story, the city has maintained their clubhouse for many years, now it is time to let it go.

But of course Bingo is more important than a library any day. Bingo provides so much information and allows them to experience the delight of lifelong learning…oh wait that is a library, a library with a multipurpose room where they could play bingo.

Screw the old people I am tired of hearing them whinge about how they won the war, are on fixed incomes, can’t survive on social security, ad nauseum.

Sure we should be nice to old people, we should be nice to everyone but in a city that can afford to build a library, saving a dilapidated building that the city has maintained for years to placate a special intrest group makes no sense.

If I sound a bit bitter about this it is because this is 6 miles from my house and I am surrounded by ‘victims’ of many sorts. The elderly, Scientologists, minorities. The only people who aren’t crying about how they have been given the short end of the stick are the white men, and the illegal alients. One group knows that even though they get shafted it does little to complain because the others think they deserve it, and the other group does not want to get deported.
