Google Says It Doesn’t Plan to Change Search Results

The New York Times (free registration required) has an article on Google’s tactics for dealing with the “googlebombing” of the term “jew” to link to an anti-semitic site. Basically their response is to let the system take care of itself. The article also touches on the recent googlebombing of the presidential candidates.

    Fight links with links
    This article didn’t mention that there’s a counter-effort to change the results by linking to Wikipedia’s article Jew. This article has gone from 4th to 2nd in the results in the last 1-2 weeks.

    Apparently there is (was) also a Librarian googlebomb effort. Jessamyn expressed her ambivalence about all this (mine, too).
