Google: Bing Is Cheating, Copying Our Search Results
Google has run a sting operation that it says proves Bing has been watching what people search for on Google, the sites they select from Google’s results, then uses that information to improve Bing’s own search listings. Bing doesn’t deny this.
As a result of the apparent monitoring, Bing’s relevancy is potentially improving (or getting worse) on the back of Google’s own work. Google likens it to the digital equivalent of Bing leaning over during an exam and copying off of Google’s test.
Does anyone actually read
Does anyone actually read Bing? Just wondering!
Or use, rather.
Or use, rather.
Yes
I use Bing as my primary search engine, and between Bing and Yahoo! (which uses Bing as its search engine), they account for around 22% of searches.
Fake entry
In the article it mentions that Google is creating fake entries for Bing to find. They refer to them as a honeypot. See this Youtube clip about a fake entry in the print world – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjRdhVlw354

Bing Maps
In Bing maps they have a “Bird’s Eye View” where you can see an image of your location that was taken from a plane. If you want to show someone details about a location this is great.

Above the picture you will see some arrows. You can click on this and spin the image so you can view the house from different angles. Also notice the controls to zoom in and out. You can get a pretty close view if you zoom in all the way.

Bing Birds Eye is great, especially when an area isn’t covered by Google Streetview.
I always thought it was funny that people were up in arms about safety, security. allowing burglars access to information about your house on Streetview when Bing Maps Birds Eye actually gave you an awful lot more information, different angles and a more 3D type view of your house and surrounding area!
I don’t use Bing as a search engine. I don’t like the look and really Google seems to work better for the things I am searching for at work and at home.
So I don’t really care about whether they are copying or not.
