Yahoo! GeoCities will close later this year. “We have decided to discontinue the process of allowing new customers to sign up for GeoCities accounts as we focus on helping our customers explore and build new relationships online in other ways. We will be closing GeoCities later this year.”
$3.6 billion down the drain.

    darn. I still store many files there.
    “GeoCities (GCTY) is the third most visited site on the Web behind AOL and Yahoo!,” (1998 data). How that has changed.

    I used to have at least 5 GeoCities addresses… including the “popular” geocities.com/how_old2000

    the spam filter won’t let me post a link, but go look.
