The Muscogee County School Board will not pay legal fees incurred by the Muscogee County Library Board as a result of a lawsuit filed by citizens.
The board voted 3-6 on Cathy Williams’ motion to pay the fees after a lengthy discussion at Monday’s monthly school board meeting.
A group of citizens filed a lawsuit seeking a court order to require that money be spent to develop a park around the new public library because plaintiffs contended a park was promised before a city SPLOST vote that provided funds to build the library off Macon Road. The lawsuit failed at the Muscogee County Superior Court level.
