Phyllis I. Jones, 69, resigned as head librarian at the Lenora Blackmore Public Library in Windsor, MO, but before she did so, she managed to pocket nearly a quarter of their annual expenses over a three year period. She was charged with 10 counts of stealing over $25,000 between January 2003 and May 2005. The board apparently pre-signed checks, and Jones made them out to members of her family.
Jones has not been arrested. Terri Kline, president of the library board, said she moved shortly after resigning at the end of last May, and may be living in Georgia. Story from the AP.
Hmmm
Pre-signed checks, well that is probably not a good idea.
I hear Gwinnett county Georgia is looking for a director, perhaps she could apply there. She’ll need the money the houses in that neck of the woods ain’t cheap.
Coverup
Yes, isn’t it interesting that “The Board” tries
to hide their own incompetence by doing nothing
and not prosecuting…surely someone disgusted
with the embezzlement and the board leaked this
story…it’s the library employees and customers
who will suffer most from this…but who cares
about that when “easy money” is available?
