Ebay magazine article

Anonymous Patron writes “Am I the only one who thinks that libraries need to check their copies of old magazines each time something like this comes up for sale on ebay?” This is a nine-page article entitled “Jane Austenâ€? written by S. S. Conant; the article, in good condition with age toning and tenderness, was carefully removed from an 1870 issue of Harper’s New Monthly Magazine.

    Happens all the time
    I see alot of this at collectors fairs here in the UK. Take an old book that has little or no real value, especially ones dealing with places, cut the pages out. Then put them in a simple card fame and there you have a 150 year old print.
    Accurate description really but not exactly what most people might think of. But good going when you can sell them for 25 pounds a go. And I have seen them sell.

    Now these books are simple encyclopedias or old books you can get hundreds of pages for only a few pounds so hopefully no need to go raiding the library stock, least I certainly think so.
