Donated copies of controversial book draw interest

The Tuscaloosa County School Board has yet to decide whether the book “Sandpiper” should be kept on the library shelves, but four copies of the book are in circulation at Brookwood High.
And they’ve all been checked out. In recent weeks, the Brookwood High has received two more donated copies, one from New York and one from a teacher at the school, said John Merrill, spokesperson for the school. The fifth copy is still in possession of Harding and has not been returned.

    Spur sales
    Usually a controversy around a book will spur sales. On Amazon the book has a 300,000 sales rank so it is not exactly flying of the shelves. Here is a link to the book.

    not that bad
    That’s not that bad. You can hear that on TV most anytime of the day.

    Why should that book be censored? Because it makes some parents uncomfortable? So what. The nosy, pushy, ignorant, self-righteous prudery masquerading as parenting in America makes me uncomfortable.

    Did you know at some schools down South they still learn about the Civil War as “The War of Northern Aggression” and celebrate Robert E. Lee and Jefferson Davis on the same day as Martin Luther King?

    Now THAT is some vomit-inducing education right there.
