Disintegrating Paper Endangering Agricultural History

A crumbling body of materials documenting Illinois agricultural history dated from 1820 to 1945 has been targeted for restoration at the University of Illinois according to this press release. The material to be microfilmed and made available online includes 450 journals, 550 dissertations and theses and 650 books, said Joseph Zumalt, project manager of the preservation project and assistant Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES) librarian at Illinois.

The project will be funded by from a long-term National Endowment for the Humanities grant that is administered by Cornell University.
