The New York Daily News reports that “there’s a scandal in the stacks at the Brooklyn Public Library.”
The head of the system abruptly quit last week after a plan to lay off 13 employees backfired and ended in a very public embarrassment. Insiders said the firing fiasco was the last strike against Dionne Mack-Harvin. “The board was not happy with her,” a source said. It wasn’t supposed to end this way. Mack-Harvin took the post with great fanfare and a fabulous back story – the African-American daughter of a sharecropper who loved books and rose to her dream job.

After taking a 5% cut to her $80 million budget, Mack-Harvin hired corporate downsizing experts to fire 13 employees. The Five O’Clock Club, was being profiled at the time by a Washington Post reporter, who was allowed to witness the library bloodbath – and chronicled it in painful detail in this August article. The story of the Brooklyn PL firings is in the latter part of the article. More from the Daily News and the Village Voice.
Resigned Over an Old Incident?
How many of you think she resigned over an incident that happened in August of last year? I suspect it may have more to do with potential E-rate fraud that I recently raised after a patron brought a related matter to my attention.
As I read the stories on the incident, I have noticed no evidence that the resignation is tied to a Washington Post article from August 9, 2009.
I am not saying I know for sure she resigned over an E-rate scandal. However, I see no evidence she resigned over an old matter and not something more recent. Further, since I received an email from the Brooklyn Borough President’s office, I am certain she is aware of my observations regarding a potential for $2.5M E-rate fraud.
That said, the potential E-rate fraud predates and will now postdate the current BPL director, so she may just be the victim of the library’s policy and those in the past who created it in the first place. Who knows, maybe she resigned to get out of perpetrating the potential fraud.

I know first hand what thieves, incompetents, and liars work for the Brooklyn Public Library. I was fired from the Brooklyn Public Library. I sued and won. I signed an agreement not to publicize this. I am pleased to see that the chief resigned. I hope she is not the last. More staff biggies must be exposed. I hope soon!!

If Osama Bin Laden walked into the[Brooklyn Public] library I’m convinced that Ginnie and friends would not call the police. They would be more concerned about his intellectual freedom. The best one word description I heard describing her[Ginnie Cooper]: COMPULSIVE. Posted by: former BPL employee | June 17, 2006 9:36 AM
What Lucy Gertner had to say is real cause for alarm. When I was there, there was a particular librarian with multiple offenses. At the Clinton Hill branch, he had a fight with a supervisor using expletives and was transferred to the Flatlands branch. There he had another fight with his supervisor and also maliciously ran up a co-workers credit card when she left her computer for a moment. He also praised the 9/11 attacks. He was then transferred to another branch where, after about a year, he harassed a Kingsborough Community College employee using the library’s phone. As a constant repeat offender, he only received a 5 day suspension and transfer to the Highlawn branch for this. It’s a real outrage that Lucy was given an 8 day suspension for simply trying to protect a collection. This shows what abominants that Cooper, Kinney, Jennings, and the rest of the Grand Army Plaza 3rd floor vermin are. Also, there was a popular, well-liked Training Manager who was called up to serve in Iraq. Cooper knifed him in the back while he was serving and eliminated his position. Posted by: Concerned | June 23, 2006 10:06 AM
Janet Kinney and Ginnie Cooper were responsible for the lack of security in the library. We attended a meeting on our Unattended Child Policy and we were told that if we saw a seven year old child in the library wondering on his own during school hours we should not ask the child why he is there because that child might be home schooled. In my years of working in the library I have never, been told such crap. New York City has laws about truant, children, not to mention child welfare laws. I could not believe what I was hearing. Thought what they were saying was not in our policy the head of security along with several others in charge were telling us to condone this nonsense. Security officers were asked to allow unruly child to stay in the library and disrupt the library. Since the new heads of security has taken over security there has been no security. Our best officers have quit or have been fired for ridiculous things like taking sick days that are legally given to them under our city contract and union laws. The library has gotten wilder and though the patrons complained and Janet Kinney and Ginnie Cooper did nothing. The staff was asked to attend a mandatory workshop called “Creating Safer Libraries. In this workshop we were basically being trained to handle issues that would normally be handled by security. One colleague followed the Creating Safer Libraries procedure and got her finger cut off, and administration told her it was her own fault. Guess what we are not a security guards, babysitter or social workers, we are libraries. I hope that our Board of Trustees learns from their mistakes. And I pray that Washington puts their foot down and doesn’t allow Ginnie Cooper to disrespect you like she did Brooklyn. Posted by: Soon to be a former BPLer | June 30, 2006 5:37
I’d just also like mention that a few years ago, not long after Sept. 11 there was an incident at a branch library when a customer asked reference staff probing questions about Pres. Bush’s parade route (he was visiting New York). The staff were concerned and called Security who then called the police. The individual was arrested and taken in for questioning and later released. Ginnie was upset about this and later developed Intellectual Freedom Training for the entire staff. Among the items covered was public computers and accessing pornography. Many of us were disturbed by the outcome: BPL instructed us to allow patrons to access pornography; according to them it was their intellectual right. When we asked about children accessing pornography we were told to discourage it but that we shouldn’t actually tell them they couldn’t access it via the internet. That was also (to their way of thinking) their right, even though they were underage. Since then library computers have been filtered but it is still not impossible to do pornography. People even send it to themselves via email. If Ginnie feels that pornography is o.k. in a library setting, then why not just order XXX DVDs. By not ordering them you are censoring according to their philosophy. I know that most patrons, esp. parents do not think like this. Posted by: former BPL employee | June 3, 2006 9:55 AM

————————————————————
This incident of the “Security Guard” was the result of a retired NYPD Lt who’s on very Friendly terms with the Midwood Branch Staff.
They solicited his services for the purposes of trying to intimidate me after I made NUMEROUS Complaints regarding the transient perverts approaching minors in the library.
In one case a 14 year old girl was approached by a pervert while she was on the adult. The guy stated he had an emergency and needed to use her computar when she allowed him to use her computar he started downloading porn in front of her and her little sister. The staff did absolutely nothing and allowed him to leave without calling police.
I started making numerous complaints. On 5 Feb 2007 the ARMED security guard from yashiva of flatbush was in the midwood branch hanging out with CHACA and several other staff. As I was making my way out of the door I stated hello and asked if he was on the job(Im former NYPD Aux)
He stated to “mind my fucking business”
I stated “sorry, thought he was a Detective cause of the Gun and Radio” He stated “That I should be carefull walking up to people with guns without back-up cause I (Me) could get shot”
After making it clear that his actions were quite illegal I called the police. Two days later Ralph Marucci was in the library again and Ten Detective came into library to arrest me on false charges. This was the staff at midwood who caused this and it continues to today as mr Marucci was in the staff room hanging with the trouble making parties who initiated this incident.
After this incident I was suspended without due process or investigation (as seen by the letter above.
The following letter below is proof (from NYPD Rant post by Police Officer regarding Ralph Marucci who continues to hangout at midwood branch. (sorry about the explitives)

Nothing like going through 14 months on trumped up charges for trying to protect minors from transient perverts accosting children at midwood Branch.
But what makes it even worse is while Ralph Marucci hangs out at the Midwood Branch it seems quite evident scandles occure right in his patrol jurisdiction while he’s harrasing patrons in the library right around the corner
Controversy
Rabbi Alan Stadtmauer resigned his position as principal of the High School in June 2005. A few months later, news spread that his decision to leave was due in part to his sexuality. He later admitted in an email to a former student, that he is a homosexual, and had decided to leave the high school, the Rabbinate, and Orthodoxy due to pressures. The Yeshivah subsequently issued a statement saying that “There have been no allegations of inappropriate behavior during
his tenure at the Yeshivah.”[5][6][7].

Further ratiliatory action against me was having the cops remove me from the Cortelyue branch for drinking an Arizona Ice-T while waiting for my computar times appointment.
The nasty racist female BPL security told me I wasn’t allowed to have beverages in the Library. I stated that the regulations stated “Alchoholic Beverages” I Then approached cluster-leader who was standing there the whole time and asked why this security guard was harrassing patrons on non-existant regulation?
Her reply was “what’s wrong with the snapple?”
she told me it was ok to remain.
Then to see the police being called and telling I had to leave
was the coup de gra.
I’ve made numerous contacts politically on this issue
and my 6 month suspension was reduced to 5 months
I have all the letters to prove this

Retarded Teen Raped in Library Bathroom and Library is Unaware
A retarded teen is raped in a public library bathroom and the library didn’t even know! Here is the article “RAPE! Teen Sexually Assaulted at Library,” followed by my letter to the editor:
RAPE! Teen sexually assaulted at Library
By Gersh Kuntzman
The Brooklyn Paper
May 10, 2008
Two men raped a mentally retarded teenager in the bathroom at the Brooklyn Public Library’s Central branch on Grand Army Plaza on April 14, cops said.
According to police, the victim, who suffers from Down Syndrome and cannot communicate verbally, did not indicate to her family that something had happened to her, but her relatives figured out that she was in pain and took her to the hospital.
Once there, doctors discovered trauma and other evidence that she had been sexually assaulted, cops said.
A spokeswoman for the library said it was unaware of the incident. She said the library had not been contacted by the police.
©2008 The Brooklyn Paper
Now here is my letter to the editor for publication inThe Brooklyn Paper:
A retarded child is raped in a public library bathroom and the library was not aware of this? What else is unknown to the library? Were the “two men” using the Internet computers to view p0rnographic material immediately before the rape, like happens in library after library nationwide?
Maybe the librarians do know something. Maybe they know they are misleading the public by suggesting anything goes after the filters are disabled upon request?
Maybe. I don’t know. But the librarians didn’t know about a rape in their own library. That is unbelievable. And if it is ever determined that library policy is based on American Library Association [ALA] policy instead of on the law, and if that contributed to the rape in any way, then the resulting lawsuit damages may be unbelievable as well.
I urge the police to make a thorough examination, including all computer logs and possible security tapes. Oh, that’s right, the library destroys such records to skirt another law, the USA PATRIOT Act, again following the ALA’s lead. Recall Rudolph W. Giulianidecried the actions of the ALA regarding this law in 2005. So with the records destroyed, I guess Brooklyn need not worry about legal liability after all.
Fact Checking:
“Taking Liberties With the Nation’s Security,”The New York Times, 17 Dec 2005, p.A23, by former mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani. See:
http://www.safelibraries.org/taking_liberties_with_the_nations_security17dec2005by_rudolph_w_giuliani.html
http://www.brooklynpubliclibrary.org/legal/patriot.jsp
http://www.brooklynpubliclibrary.org/legal/internet-faq.jsp
And while I’m writing about how the ALA drives local policy in New York City, here’s an inspiring example that when the people find out, they rid themselves of the ALA’s influence. You see, the ALA listed a certain s3xually inappropriate book in a top ten list (ALA | Quick Picks for Reluctant Young Adult Readers), and as a likely result, a librarian ordered that book for hundreds of New York City schools. Then the parents found out. See “City’s Ed. Boobs,” by Carl Campanile, New York Post, Oct. 13, 2003. You won’t be disappointed.

CHILDREN AS YOUNG AS 4 ‘TO BE FINGERPRINTED TO BORROW SCHOOL BOOKS FROM LIBRARY’

Children, 4, ‘to be fingerprinted to borrow school books from library’
Children as young as four could be fingerprinted to take out books from a school libaray.
By Andrew Hough
Published: 8:00AM BST 28 May 2010
Students in Manchester are having their thumbprints digitally transformed into electronic codes, which can then be recognised by a computer program.
Under the scheme, pupils swipe a bar code inside the book they want borrow then press their thumb on to a scanner to authorise the loan. Books are returned in the same way.
The scheme is being trialled on junior classes at Higher Lane Primary in Whitefield, Bury, Greater Manchester.
Officials confirmed it is due to be extended to all pupils at the school, one of the areas largest primary schools, with 453 pupils aged four to 11.
School authorities defended the scheme on Thursday, and moved to reassure parents that the voluntary system, is heavily encrypted or coded and that no images of fingerprints would be stored.

Midwood Branch 2006
I want to also make note that in 2006 at midwood branch a female security officers nearly lost her life when she tried to remove a male subject who disruptive.
As she moved towards the subject at the help desk he reached into his jacket to pull out a blue pen to stab her. I was standing there waiting to retreive a stapler from the assistant who was attending another patron.
When the male subject moved to stab the S/O I hit his hand in his mid-swing stab attempt. This male subject had a previous incident at another BPL branch where he threw a chain at a librarian.
I along with the S/O then clear the area which was full of children and I called the Police 70Pct desk and Police Dispatcher for Emergency assistance. Police Arrived and had to physically place the arrest subject who was resisting. I took 5 to 6 officers to put him custody.
I went to court on behalf of BPL and when the court date approached I met the S/O who’s story changed to “no stab attempt”
The guy was exonerated on the attemp murder of the S/O based on the S/Os story change.
The arresting officers took possesion of the “Blue Pen” which the subject was still in possesion.
Then Im approached in Feb 2007 by the “Security Guard” after making the complaints about the perverts in the damn library.
There was never any thank you or any mention of fighting on behalf of the people in imminant danger at this branch.
All this after going to court
This branch (Midwood) seems to operate like a privilage site were rules don’t pertain and workers can cause dangerous incidents and have no accountability of their actions.

Porn in Brooklyn Public Library; Frustrated Patron Provides Photographic Proof; Library Refuses to Act; Two and a Half Million Dollars in Jeopardy Due to Possible Fraud
This is sad. A patron in the Brooklyn Public Library, Brooklyn, NY, is so frustrated by the library’s refusal to act regarding porn viewing on the public library computers that he reached out to SafeLibraries. Based on the photos, his comments, and a little research, it appears millions of dollars in federal funding may have been fraudulently obtained and needs to be refunded. Installing Internet filters may be the solution—just because legal porn is legal does not mean the library must provide it or cannot stop it.
Here is evidence the library refuses to act to stop pornography viewing: “When I told the people who work in the library they said that unless the material is something illegal, like child porn, all I can do is file a complaint. They said it is perfectly legal for people to look at whatever they want, as long as the material is not illegal, like child porn.” The photos are further evidence.

wiki
Circumstantial evidence
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
Circumstantial evidence is indirect evidence. Circumstantial evidence is the result of combining seemingly unrelated facts that, when considered together, can be used to infer a conclusion. Circumstantial evidence is usually a theory, supported by a significant quantity of corroborating evidence.
It differs from direct evidence, which is the physical trail left by an event (known in law as forensic evidence); documentary evidence which is a direct recording of an event on a medium, typically audio or video recordings; and witness, which is the testimony of someone who has first hand knowledge of an event, usually by seeing or hearing it.
Law
Circumstantial evidence is used in criminal courts to establish guilt or innocence through reasoning.
The distinction between direct and circumstantial evidence is important because with the obvious exceptions (the immature, incompetent, or mentally ill) nearly all criminals are careful to not generate direct evidence, and try to avoid demonstrating criminal intent. Therefore, to prove the mens rea levels of “purposely” or “knowingly,” the prosecution must usually resort to circumstantial evidence. The same goes for tortfeasors in tort law, if one needs to prove a high level of mens rea to obtain punitive damages.
An example of circumstantial evidence is the behavior of a person around the time of an alleged offense. If someone were charged with theft of money, and were then seen in a shopping spree purchasing expensive items, the shopping spree might be regarded as circumstantial evidence of the individual’s guilt.
A popular misconception is that circumstantial evidence is less valid or less important than direct evidence. This is only partly true: direct evidence is generally considered more powerful, but successful criminal prosecutions often rely largely on circumstantial evidence, and civil charges are frequently based on circumstantial or indirect evidence. Much of the evidence against Timothy McVeigh was circumstantial, for example. Speaking about McVeigh’s trial, University of Michigan law professor Robert Precht said, “Circumstantial evidence can be, and often is much more powerful than direct evidence.”

Dear Executive Director Cooper,
I am writing on behalf of a consituent, Mr Paul Isaac, concerning a conflict with a security guard at the Central Library [Cortelyou Branch].
Mr Isaac reports that he is suspended from the library for 6 months due to a minor incident that occured with a security guard at the Central Library[Cortelyou Branch]. Mr Isaac came into the Library with a drink in his hand when a security guard stopped him and told him not to bring any drinks into the library. Howevere, Mr Isaac noticed a Snapple machine inside the library hallway and questioned the security guard about why be could not bring in his drink when there is a soda machine inside.
Mr Isaac claims that the security guard refused to answer his question and became very annoyed. His questions escaleted to and argument and, in the end, Mr Isaac was escorted out from the library[By Police] without any chance to defend himself. Mr Isaac believes he was wrongfully suspended from the library as a result of the security guards unprofessional conduct.
Please investigate this matter and keep me updated on your findings.
If you have any question or if I can be of any assistance in facilitating this request, please contact me.

On July 31, 2007, He recieved a letter from your office stating that his library privilages were going to suspended for a period of 6 months. It is my understanding that Mr Isaacs library privilages were suspended due to inappropriate behavior he displayed at the Cortelyou branch.
Although Mr Isaac was labled as being a cisruptive individual, I am aware that he is an active community member and has been a devoted an responsible library card holder.
I urge to consider reinstating Mr Isaacs library privilages thereby allowing him the oppurtunity to full advantage of the educational oppurtunities that are available through the Brooklyn Public Library system.

From a Flatbush Boy Whose Teacher Has Told Him Goodbye
By Steven Zeitchik
He was a new teacher, not yet 30, and I was a student, barely 17, when we first talked. I never sat in his classroom; we met in the very non-teacherly environment of Model U.N., for which he enthusiastically led our school’s delegation. But from the moment I met him, Rabbi Alan Stadtmauer became one of the most influential figures in my life.
I absorbed his ideas and his seriousness and his way of thinking. In the spiritual muddle that is senior year at a Jewish day school, he was an impossibly patient mentor, the kind of intellectual whose star is only made brighter by his open-mindedness and accessibility. Never didactic and always thoughtful, his was an invigorating personality; it’s the rare high school teacher, or rabbi, who can trade convincingly in Eastern religion, modern music, rabbinic philosophy and global politics, and not as some sort of ploy or pose, either. He believed, with the aggressive sincerity that was his trademark, that all wisdom and art was of a piece — both with being human and, always, with being an observant Jew. And he was willing to take on any shibboleth, rabbinic or otherwise, if it didn’t square with his careful analysis.
Well past graduation, we would still get together and talk, at a cafe or over a Sabbath meal. Even when we lost touch toward the end of my college years, and even after I eventually left behind some modes of ritual, his approach to all kinds of problems — especially the tangled knot of faith and reason — stayed with me.
His professional success filled me with no small amount of pride. Word of his many promotions — in less than a decade he went from unknown instructor to leader of one of the most prestigious American Jewish day schools — offered validation, and hope. If the Jewish educational system could not only produce an Alan Stadtmauer (he was a Ramaz and Yeshiva University graduate) but reward him, then perhaps that system’s future wasn’t so bleak after all.
He unexpectedly departed the principalship of Yeshivah of Flatbush High School in June, and last week it was revealed that he did so not because of a career reevaluation, as some had thought, but because of a decision to leave Orthodoxy and come out as a gay man.
Since the news broke, I have returned many times to conversations we had — looking, I suppose, for clues on what was to come, but also for some kind of disclaimer, something that would explain and even excuse this uncommon evacuation. I found it impossible to avoid feelings of betrayal. Ripped from under me were the assumptions most of us subconsciously hold about our mentors — that they aren’t bothered by the confusion that nags the rest of us; that, having already struggled to resolve life’s key questions, they live in a kind of contented stasis. I needed him to justify this somehow, to tell me, even through these memories, how it all began to change.
Of course mentors are rarely uncomplicated, and discovering their humanity is itself part of the mentoring process. But there was more to jolt me here than a fallen role model. Stadtmauer is one of the most reflective and committed people I have ever met. To learn that he had spent most of his 42 reflective years committed to what he now implicitly acknowledges as folly tore a hole right through me. There is something profoundly depressing about a man so publicly and unambiguously changing his mind, no matter your religious bent. If Alan Stadtmauer can simply renege on his hard-won beliefs, where does that leave the rest of us?
Even worse, the story didn’t offer the comfort of exceptionalism. There was no scandal here; unlike the tabloid shockers involving some other figures in Jewish education, this narrative gave us no perversion, no sinister appetite to help explain it all away. It was just a man with more intellectual gifts than most of us trying harder than most of us — and coming up short. It was its banality that made it shocking.
His failure kept other questions turning in my mind. Did I somehow know more than he did all those years ago when I raised my doubts to him, and it just took him a while to catch up? Or had he been plagued then but decided not to let on? An email to a student that has surfaced on several blogs suggests the latter; he alludes to “personal questions I had had many years before, that I put aside because of what it means to me to be a rabbi and a teacher.” But if that’s the case, it’s hard not to feel like he sacrificed honesty — his greatest virtue — in favor of some teacherly sleight-of-hand. If he was being honest with himself about his doubts, then wasn’t he lying to us?
Of course, one can’t discount communal pressure in his decision to wait so long. In that same email, he made the bold decision to lay blame at the door of the Orthodox establishment. “Given how alone I felt all my life, I could not imagine fighting an uphill battle [as a homosexual] just to remain lonely in the Orthodox community.”
Lonely, it seems, is an apt adjective. Fiercely independent in life and in teaching, Stadtmauer was, to borrow Joseph Solveitchik’s concept, a lonely man of faith, and in a way it is a fitting, if unfortunate, coda to his career that he is now a lonely man of doubt, damned to walk a garden in which he is twice blessed as a non-observant Orthodox rabbi and a gay man whose colleagues all think homosexuality is a sin.
But perhaps this lonely striving may hold some reassurance. After all, despite what was apparently a lifetime of uncertainty, Stadtmauer managed to inspire a generation of students. This was not, on second reflection, a disingenuousness turn; to the contrary, he managed to corral personal doubt and self-questioning into a powerful classroom tool, which is all one could really ask from a teacher. And when it counted, he committed the ultimate act of honesty; a man of lesser integrity than Stadtmauer would have closeted himself, in several senses of the word, for the sake of his career and been a less effective rabbi and homosexual.
Finally, I wonder if his mid-career departure might not suggest my cynical first thought — of his long-held naivete. Perhaps Stadtmauer was not deluded at all; perhaps he simply chose to consider in-depth, and from a position of evolving knowledge, issues the rest of us resolved too much in haste.
Besides, who’s to say where it all leads? In the email Stadtmauer suggests he “may yet return” to observance. Far from a choice made narrowly and in perpetuity, religion is a cycle of embracing and rejecting — a matter of where any of us sit on a wheel at any point in time. Once you feel its pull, it’s hard to really leave, just as it’s hard, sometimes, to really stay.

RALPH MARUCCI
Cuunt at large……….
reply
The above NYPD Rant post posted by Patrol Officer who responded to my 5 Feb 2007 police request when Ralph Marucci made threats against my life in the Midwood Branch which was instigated by Branch Staff “Chaca”
There were 5 to 6 officers who responded to the scene on 5 Feb including the poster (Hwy-Chaz driving Vehicle#5145) My Background was read and came back clean (Code 19) I was told that Mr Marruccu was a known “Dick” and that he would seek revenge.
On 7 Feb 2007 while I was in the Midwood Branch Mr Marucci was once again in the Library and began provoking an incident. When I tried to use the phone to call for police assistance “Chaca” Hung the phone up on me and when I tried again to call police Mr Marucci hung it up the second time. Mr Marucci was accompanied by a second YOB Armed Security Guard who blocked the door preventing my egres.
I had to push him out of the way to get to the street where we waited for police cause Marucci called them. Aprox 10 Detectives from the 70Pct arrived on scene and I was arrested.
Numerous Video working Cameras recorded the incident yet Marucci who clearly violating the Law (and more) was allowed to call the the 70pct commanding officer to facilitate a false arrest of someone clearly defending themselves from an armed assailent.

“I was under the impression that if the mayor were to hear that two aux cops assisted in preventing the death and injuries to posibly hundreds of people in midtown 7/27/00 17Pct 2100hrs. That he show an interest in it but I guess I was wrong in assuming that. I’m sorry that I was trying to do the right thing when we noticed people in trouble. Maybe it could have been someone in your family in that bus hostage situation that we were tracking. But I’ve learned an important lesson in this matter, to mind my own business and when I see someone in trouble or as was our case a life and death emergency relating to a bomb threat in midtown manhattan on a crowded bus on a crowded street we’ll just follow your example and stay out of it. Thanks for a lesson well taught.”

TYPE – A Security
again, really?
Perhaps if you took a basic English Comp course or even used library resources for grammar guides and basic composition skills, you would be taken more seriously. There is no structure to these posts and they are increasingly hard to follow. Your grammar is atrocious. For example, I assume “complit” is supposed to be “complicit”. Before you say I am nitpicking, this site is for new stories and it relies heavily on the written word. Thus, words and grammar (or lack thereof) are your only impression. You are not making a good one, my friend. There are also many “unwritten” rules to posting comments. Flooding a comment box with, if I counted correctly, 18 comments thus far is generally frowned upon. If you have that much to say on one subject on this site, your best option is to post your own blog and provide us a link (and possibly include an excerpt, not the entire backstory) instead of posting numerous rambling comments on a post that was originally posted in March.
And nothing that you have posted thus far has anything to do with your service in the NYFD. What you do/did for a living has nothing to do with these alleged incidents. You are not claiming that you were targeted because of who you are, unless I missed it somewhere in the multiple posts. I am unsure of your actual point in posting all of this.
Maybe if you were this
Maybe if you were this thorough about security at the BPL
we wouldve had ninjas or maybe jedi knights actually doing security already.
But as it looks you can’t even decide if you want crime deterant or liability insurance

Get over yourself. You are not the only one concerned about prevent crime and safety of children. Your holier-than-thou attitude will not get you far. You would do best to not make assumptions about any commenter’s economic status, education, or responsibility as a parent.
Funny, you complain about porn viewing in the library and resort to Harlequin as your “ideal” of writing ability. I would think about upping your so-called “standards”.
I guess you missed your
I guess you missed your dosage today, Sybil?
Yeah, while you ballble & yap on blogs, some if us have gone to jail

And as for the numerous post it’s called “trace evidence”.
As shown by the post, Einstein.

What profit? I don’t see anywhere in these incoherent posting that the libraries are profiting. My life and record have nothing to do with my pointing out the flaws in your presentation of your argument. But, since you asked, I have a Master’s degree in English. That right there gives me enough “right to criticize”.
As for the numerous posts, I do not see trace evidence. I see a couple of incidents at best. And the common denominator in those incidents is you.
Sarcastic name-calling does little to further your cause. Give that up and give us real evidence.

Uppity?
Using correct grammar and spelling is uppity? I guess we better quit teaching grammar in schools lest our children become “uppity”. If uppity is the best insult you’ve got, I can deal with that.
Since you’ve been banned from the physical library building, here’s a website for some help with your writing.
http://grammar.ccc.commnet.edu/grammar/
For structuring your writing in a coherent manner, I recommend the essay and research pull-down menu. For your spelling, I recommend locating your spell check on whatever browser you are using. That will catch the glaring errors at least.
One more website dealing with logical fallacies. Understanding those fallacies can help you structure your claims and conclusions better.

Esther Klein went to the Brooklyn Public Library in Midwood to get the 1997 Mike Myers comedy for her grandchildren, but it wasn’t the international man of mystery movie. Instead, it was 30 minutes of hardcore porn involving a young woman and two men.
“To my devastation, I can’t describe my feeling, my shock. I’m speechless, I’m still speechless,” Klein told CBS 2 HD.
Luckily she watched it first, to make sure it was appropriate and now wants to warn parents about her experience. Klein turned the tape over to Assemblyman Dov Hikind, who made a disturbing discovery.
“We did some homework with regard to many other branches and found out that this has been an ongoing problem in particular with videos for young people,” Hikind said.
The porn started appearing back in January. The library did an internal investigation and revealed that there were 18 tampered VHS tapes found out of 35,000. They thought the problem was solved when police arrested a 29-year-old man who had borrowed a video and returned it with porn clips.
A Brooklyn Public Library spokesman said that the tape was the only tampered movie.
“This is the only tape that has been found to be tampered with since the investigation,” the spokesman said in a statement. “We are 100 percent committed to ensuring that our materials and locations are safe spaces for everyone.”
But Hikind wants every VHS tape pulled from library shelves until the problem is resolved.
“If they don’t pull all these off the shelves until they figure out how they’re going to deal with it, then they’re really negligent; then what they’re doing is criminal as far as I’m concerned,” Hikind said.
It’s also a reminder to parents and grandparents to keep a close eye on everything your children are exposed to, Klein added.
The Brooklyn DA’s office is still investigating the case involving the man arrested in January.

PATRONS ARE WARNED BY THE
PATRONS ARE WARNED BY THE LIBRARY THAT IF THE PATRONS CALL POLICE ON PEOPLE FOR WHAT TURNS OUT TO BE “LEGAL PORNOGRAPHY,” THEN THE PATRONS WILL GET “INTO TROUBLE”! Oh my! Librarians have been so successful in misleading the public that now they are warning the public if they call the police for the wrong reasons!!!! And look at the other completely wrong statements made by these librarians. And libraries that filter only the children’s sections do not stop children from being attacked by adults on unfiltered adult computers. And the use of library cards has failed in other libraries because people were trading cards. And agreements not to view porn, a favorite of the ALA for circumventing the law, are useless. Good people will not look at porn in public libraries anyway and bad people will not care about such silly agreements. Similarly, people are not supposed to carry guns in some states but that doesn’t stop the criminals from carrying them, does it? That’s why court houses have metal detectors — to stop the criminals from bringing in weapons. Well Internet filters essentially perform the same function — stopping those who refuse to comply with social agreements. Lastly the argument is made that filters don’t always work. Who ever said they did? Filters will never work 100%. Does that mean you don’t use them? Metal detectors do not stop plastic weapons. Does that mean you don’t use them? If filters are never to be used, why did anyone waste time on a law requiring filters and a US Supreme Court case finding that law constitutional? These librarians are possibly allowing or creating a danger to children in their own communities so as to satisfy the radical agenda of a union of librarians far, far away. “(We are) doing our very best to keep control of this thing”? NOT!]

And the profanity is unnecessary.
more proof
Perhaps I should have included the years I’ve spent tutoring students in English and writing courses of all levels of education. I should have included the years I’ve spent volunteering with the Literacy Council in my community, a separate entity from my library system. I should have included the fact that all of the jobs I’ve had, including my current one, have centered around my ability to write coherently. I thought, perhaps, that was overkill, so I simply provided you with sufficient background of my education.

Libraries Ban Sex
Libraries Ban Sex Offenders
POSTED: 6:49 pm MST March 4, 2008
UPDATED: 7:37 am MST March 5, 2008

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —
Albuquerque Mayor Martin Chavez is firing another shot in his war with sex offenders.
This time he’s banning them from city libraries in an effort to keep predators from an easy access to using the Internet.
Until Monday, the Internet was available to anybody in the duke city with a library card.
But the new ban applies to sex offenders registered with the city, state and national registries.
Under the executive order, librarians will do the policing by cross checking library cards with sex offender registries.
They will then pass the information on to police who can take action with any one of three levels of enforcement.
For some sex offenders, visiting a library is a violation of their probation and they will be arrested immediately.
Others will first be given a criminal trespass notice, then arrested if they return to a library.
However, the ACLU’s Whitney Potter says it is a knee-jerk reaction rather than a legitimate strategy for solving the problem.

“Master Uppity” says nothing of the sort. Show me words I have said on this thread that indicate I support sex offenders. You can’t. I said nothing of the sort.
Your rants are increasingly more off target. Perhaps if you spent less time attacking me and more time on honing your writing ability, you might make some headway with your original purpose. Of course, writing a persuasive argument without attacking someone is no fun, is it?
I take it by your posting, you’re still alive and well and not in jail again. No backlash from your ban being lifted? Perhaps there is no vast conspiracy against you after all.

And my parenting skills are NOT in question. I have taken my child to the library numerous times and nothing bad has happened. Why? Because I was doing my JOB as a PARENT. You know nothing about me or my parenting skills, so I will not take anything you say to heart.
Where have I shown complicity (as complicitness is not a word)? I have not. Nowhere in any of my comments have I said anything remotely close. As I asked before, show me the evidence. Repeat my own words back to me, as you are fond of doing.
As I said before, name-calling shows weakness, either in your argument or in your ability to present your case.

Re: Paul Isaac Jr

Sincerly John C. Liu

Dear Paul,
I am writing to you on behalf of one of my consituents, Paul Isaac who resides at [Address Redacted].
Thank You for taking the time to read this letter and reviewing this case throughly. I look forward to working with you to resolve this matter. If you have any questions or need any additional information please feel free to contact my office at 718-629-6401.

The whole event was recorded by numerous security camera from Maruccis schools business on Ave J including the Ave J trainstation and the Rite-Aid store and what’s supposedly Midwood Branch Security Cameras
That’s why HWYChaz made the remark on NYPD Rant cause Ralph Maduccis didn’t mention any of this when I called the police on 5 Feb.
We were all standing on E16 & Ave J at 15:00Hrs 5 Feb infrint of all the security cameras
Yet a false arrest was conducted on 7 Feb in the Midwood Branch in front of Midwood Branch Security Cameras
So perverts are welcomed and Kids are unsupervised and People displaying firearms can walk right in hang out with the staff and threaten patrons lives at the BPL
Watch what happens on Monday when I (Paul Isaac Jr) return to use the computar.
