Despite privacy fears, SF Library Board OKs RFID chips

Bob Cox writes “The San Francisco Library Commission has approved the implementation of RFID techology, which microchips to keep track of books and other library material. The program will require about $300,000 for starters and take six years to implement. Critics are concerned that the chips called radio-frequency identification devices, could be used by the government to gather personal information about library users, their reading habits and their personal information.
