County library benefits from $1 million gift

Todays “Random Patron Give Library A Million Bucks” story brought to you by Milesburg, PA. A Milesburg man who enjoyed researching his family history at the Centre County Library and Historical Museum before his death in May 2004 has left the library a $1 million gift, the largest in its history.

The gift from Elliott Potter, a longtime Centre Daily Times employee, is about the same size as the library’s operating budget will be next year. Library administrator Charlene Brungard said the gift will be used “as seed money to make sure the library survives down the road.”
