NY Daily News gets handicapable Boy a Lib Card

Yesterday, after The News got involved, Public Library officials called to say Christian – any disabled child, in fact – is entitled to a library card of his own regardless of his ability to write his name.

“The staff made a mistake,” said Susan Kent, director and chief executive of the NYPL’s 85 branch libraries, who apologized repeatedly for the incident. “I am embarrassed. It is just a dreadful mistake.”
