Correction : The author of this article , posted here a few weeks ago, is indeed named Jessica Powers , but has informed me that she is neither DEAD nor has she ever been a CARMELITE NUN. She is particularly glad to be ALIVE, and teaching writing in Las Cruses, New Mexico as well as working on a novel set on the U.S.-Mexico border.
Apologies to our readers and to the author.
Uhh wow
Neither dead or a nun? Like the commercials say, it sounds like she’s “living the high life.”
But I gotta say, the name Sister Jessica Powers sounds like either a superhero or a dominatrix who’s into leather habits.

Poor woman, from dead nun to dom. She’s probably just a really nice person who will hesitate to publish anything on the Internet again, after her makeover here.
Re:Uhh wow
Actually I’m not referring to the living Jessica Powers, I’m referring to the dead one who I guess was a nun and is dead.
It’s just that her name sounds a lot like a comic book superhero from the silver age:
Jessica Powers, a normal American woman, was the victim of a strange twist of fate. While sitting at a bus stop, enthralled in a book about Mesopotamian mythology, a truck load of toxic chemicals overturned in front of her. The resulting chemical splash and ill-timed lightning strike imbued her with the powers to heal and destroy at will. Taking her name from the Akkadian goddess of sex and war she became… NANAJA!
Hey when you grow up with a name like Daniel Messer, names become fair game. π
