Cornell U acquires Valuable Native American Collection

http:://search-engines-web.com/ sends us news that the long-contested ownership of one of the largest collection of Native American artifacts has been settled. On June 15, the Huntington Free Library, where the collection has been housed for since 1930, transferred the collection to Cornell Library. The $2.5 million that Cornell is giving the Huntington library in return will settle 15 years of litigation over who owns the collection.
The collection had been given to the library by the Museum of the American Indian (MAI). When the Smithosonian’s National Museum of the American Indian bought the MAI, they wanted the collection back. Huntington library has nearly gone bankrupt fighting the Smithsonian. Stories at Cornell Times
