Clerk cuts to hit school libraries deep North County Times – North San Diego and Southwest Riverside

An Anonymous Patron sends “this article from the North County (CA)Times about the effect of budget cuts on school library staffing. One middle school with nearly 1500 students will likely only have one librarian with no paid staff aides. Options include closing the library at certain times, having teachers use their planning time to bring students to the library and using parent volunteers.”

    Clerk cuts to hit
    If it isn’t the personnel that is cut from library programs, it is the materials. It is a vicious circle that allows for budget constraints to hit the aides and leave a professional to do it all. The next thing that happens is there is no money for new materials. In my personal situation, there is no one else but myself. We haven’t gotten rid of the only personnel so the cuts are in materials and supplies. SAD!
