Charity Vogel: Libraries aim to turn a new page

Sexy Steven M. Cohen sent over good news from here in Buffalo where the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library Board will vote on hiring a new director, Bridget Quinn-Carey, who will be charged with guiding the library out of its recent Dark Age and into the future. At the same time, the County Legislature is holding out $1.6 million in extra money to the system for more programs, fresh books, possibly even — this is the weird part — a new location in a mall or shopping center. (The shuttered Martin Luther King branch on the East Side was always blamed for being a storefront in a plaza. Now retail-oriented sites for libraries are trendy again.)
