Chapter on world’s busiest library system closing with departure of chief librarian

The Globe And Mail takes a look at the looooooooong career of Josephine Bryant who is stepping down after 10 years as Toronto’s postamalgamation chief librarian.

“I was at a party and I was talking to this woman who told me about library school,” said Ms. Bryant, who was 21 and had just earned a general bachelor of arts degree at the University of Toronto. “I thought, I don’t want to be a teacher, and I really don’t have the financial resources to go to law school.”
