The NY Times is Reporting on Patriot Act II.
In a three-point presidential plan Bush is seeking broad new authority to allow federal agents — without the approval of a judge or even a federal prosecutor — to demand private records and compel testimony.
Mr. Bush also wants to expand the use of the death penalty in crimes like terrorist financing, and he wants to make it tougher for defendants in such cases to be freed on bail before trial.
Attorney General John Ashcroft and other senior officials, defending the Patriot Act in recent speeches and interviews, have emphasized that judges must sign off on the investigative tools that have caused the most public protest, like searching library records or executing warrants without immediately notifying the target.
Contributions as Capital Crime, eh?
I wonder if we’ll ever be able to hang George Bush jr. under Patriot Act II. After all, he’s getting his religious initiatives pushed through on the QT by having them hidden in unrelated bills, and if ever some lunatic droog of his shoots down another gynecologist. . . .
Hmmmm.
Perhaps I should restrict my pipedreams to the visions I get from smoking wacky-tobaccy. At least those hallucinations have something in common with reality.
(Note to the humour impaired: Yes, the above is meant to be funny. That you don’t get it is your problem, not mine.)
Re:Contributions as Capital Crime, eh?
If the people of this country have any sense they will remove this joker, then turn his evil planns against him in retribution before repealing them. You know something terrible would happen if law enforcement pulled the records, and I mean all the records on Bush and his corrupt administration.
Oh, sorry, fogot my RANT tags.
Re:Contributions as Capital Crime, eh?
They don’t have any sense. They are sheep.
Bush is welcome to anal-ize my shit. I could sent it to the White House.
