Budget Cuts Could Close Library

    Numbers don’t add up
    The reporter who wrote this story either has some numbers wrong, needs to ask a lot more questions, or need to righa lot more clearer. If, by law, the library must get $808,000, and the library director only asked for $835,377, how can that be cut by a number equal to $180,000? Even the $30,000 that the mayor cut would be too low to meet the level required by law.

    This part of the article explains the arithmetic:

    In past years, Hilbert said, the funding was always about $200,000 over the required level. This year, it is proposed to be $28,000 over the minimum required.
