That’s the picture in a lot of children’s books these days, according to a study, “Gender Stereotyping and Under-representation of Female Characters in 200 Popular Picture Books: A Twenty-first Century Update.”
And it is certainly out of step with modern America, where women outnumber men, and most women work outside the home.
