It’s the literary genre which has proved a cash cow for publishers and another vehicle to superstardom for their authors.
But celebrity memoirs are being left on the shelf because of falling sales caused by the credit crunch.
As well as a more cautious public, publishers can no longer afford fees reaching into seven figures for authors.
all I can say is
‘amen’.

Do they still hit the bestseller lists? Are the lists being manipulated? The money that publishers have given authors and then spent on publicity is insane. Why waste the dough?
Book publishers no longer starstruck by celebrity memoirs
I am glad to hear that publishers have come to their senses. So often it has been a disappoint of time and money to make these type of book purchases. And personally I am getting tired of celebrities getting paid outrageous salaries and producing a poor quality item. I am not saying all have a poor product but one should not assume that because they have a known name they should be printed or paid a huge fee. There are too many hard working people out there authors, illustrators, librarians, not getting the credit nor the pay they deserve. I know I am not in it for the money but the love of the kids. So thank you publishing companies and others for finally putting a stop to this.
Well It’s About Time…..
Well it’s about time isn’t it…
All that drivel from million dollar salaried people, whining about childhood abuse, alcoholism, drug addiction, shopping sprees, etc. Makes one want to break down and sob.
These are the people who need to step up to the plate and be a bright & shining example of humanity, not the exception to the rules. They are so NOT Entitled to special treatment or favors any more than anyone else.
In my opinion, this is not good reading material…which is why we have People Magazine, National Enquirer, Star, and the likes…. Save some money…read the rags…you’ll learn about as much.
