‘Bloody Sunday’ Civil Rights March To Be Recreated

kmccook writes “The stretch of Main Street from the New Port Richey Public Library to Sims Park is less than one mile, but it will be used Saturday to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the first attempt at a 54-mile black voter rights march from Selma to Montgomery, Ala.

The Selma “Bloody Sunday” March, organized by library events and community outreach coordinator Ann Scott, will recall the horror in Selma on March 7, 1965. Saturday’s two-hour event begins at 11 a.m. behind the library at 5939 Main St.
