Visiting the three countries dubbed the “axis of evil” by President Bush was not something Scott Fisher set out to do.
But in 2002, Fisher had a chance to visit North Korea while he was teaching in Seoul, South Korea. Two years later, he was working for the Department of Defense as an Asia analyst and was able to go to Iraq. The next logical location was Iran, and the author was able to get a visa there in 2006.
The Turkish Weekly will carry a six-part story, here’s Part One, and you can hear an interview with the author on Chicago Public Radio’s Worldview Program. The book’s title: Axis of Evil World Tour: An American’s Travels in Iran, Iraq, and North Korea.
