Apparently Google has an age limit to use, well anything associated with it. From searching to using services such as Gmail. Here’ the link to the article. Who knew? So often we ignore or look quickly at the terms of use, that we miss things like this. I guess I should be glad that I’m old enough to use their services.

Oldest human voice recording!
We all hear growing up that the first recording of a human voice is Thomas Edison’s “Mary had a little lamb.” However, this may not be true. Audio historian David Giovannoni, has discovered a recording that predates Edison’s by 17 years. Parisian inventor Edouard-Leon Scott de Martinville used a phonautograph to create this artifacts.
He’s back!
“The Librarian” will be returning to TV again sometime later this year. It will be called “Curse of the Judas Chalice,” and apparently deal with a vampire and the Judas Chalice, whatever that may be.
Assessing social technologies in libraries
Yes I “borrowed” the title of the post from Meredith Farkas, but I thought I’d post her post here to get a broader response. How is your library assessing social technologies in the library? The comments have some good thoughts, but what are others doing?

Could prove really useful when everything else works except that one site that the patron standing in front of you needs.
Helen Keller photograph
This is from last week, but still very cool. Researcher’s have uncovered what they believe to be the earliest known photograph of Helen Keller and her teacher Anne Sullivan. It was donated to the New England Historic Genealogical Society, by a man whose mother had played with Keller one summer. An interesting piece of history rediscovered!

William F. Buckley Jr passes
Author William F. Buckley Jr, has passed away today at the age of 82. For more information on Buckley take a look at the Wikipedia article (yes Wikipedia…just beware of incorrect information or vandalism.)
