    So it has an automatic hidden page turning gizmo inside does it? Perhaps it works like two sided copying…Whatta ya gotta do to the book to “interface” it with la gizmo…break the binding and extract the pages?

    Then toss the original in the recycle bin once all it’s pages have been digested…And what about the hilariously understated “image cleanup” just how does that work?

    Even high end OCR programs like Acrobat Capture don’t get it perfect so errors abound and the ever tedious “manual” cleanup is necessary unless the end product is going to be just a static unsearchable image, with an index (if there is one) that can be seen but not touched. Can’t interact with the text?

    You can’t interact with the text with a paper book.

    Ever heard of OCR or Adobe Acrobat?

    If you OCR the text of the book and create links either using words in the TOC, text or index, an image which is “view only” becomes a dynamic media that you can interact with, search and actively target and extract information from.

    A “view only” image is the same as microfilm or fiche…if you are looking for specific information you can only do it one page at a time.

    That’s what’s behind the times!

    In your first post you were complaining about all the manual cleanup required of a digital file and now you want to load it with links and do alot of other work.

    You still have not responded to how the page in a book is any different than any image stored on a computer. Neither have working links. The digital file is easier to store and transport and I can ship it around the world with a click of a button.

    So you are fine with scanning the books as long as we fill them with links?
