Another chapter in the current plagiarism scandal

JET sent in One From The NY Times that says Fresh passages in the novel by a Harvard sophomore, whose book was pulled from stores last week after she acknowledged plagiarizing portions of it, appear to be copied from a second author.

Another interesting one from The Times on William H. Swanson, the 57-year-old chief executive of Raytheon, the big military contractor, and a board member at Sprint Nextel. Mr. Swanson has been peddling a list of common-sense maxims called “Swanson’s Unwritten Rules of Management,” which became something of a cult hit in corporate America. Raytheon published them as a small book and has given away 300,000 copies. It turns out they were written, and by someone else. He Now Says he didn’t “did not properly check source material,” Swanson said at the annual meeting today. “I apologize to those whose material I wish I had treated with greater care.”
Raytheon Co., the world’s largest missile maker, said it won’t raise Chief Executive William Swanson’s 2006 salary after he failed to cite a source for his book on management principles.
