GregS* writes “Next door to the ‘Cradle of Civilization’ journalist, Akbar Ganji, is being kept in prison for “publishing a book and writing news stories charging his country’s (Iran) political leaders with playing a role in the murder of dissident intellectuals in the late 1990s.” Story here.
Nice neighborhood.
Ahhh yes, our next war…

Meanwhile, back at the ranch . . .
Judith Miller has been unjustly imprisoned for an article she did not write, while an outright traitor sits comfortably in the administration of a draft-dodger and deserter who publicly condemned the revelation of Valerie Plame as CIA officer, and falsely stated that he would fire any official who had done such a thing. True to character, he is flip-flopping on these statements by stonewalling on the issue.
And let’s not forget that she was revealed to be a CIA officer because her husband preferred to speak truth to power instead of blindly supporting a head long rush to commit genocide.
Further parallels between the Bush regime and that of the Ayatollahs also continue to be drawn by American forces in Iraq, who have been consistently criminally negligent in the wanton killings of journalists. (See the most recent report at CommonDreams.org, and part I of a four part series at TruthOut.org.) Much the same way the Iranian regime is guilty of the wanton murder of Zahra Kazemi and the cover up of that.
All this despite the fact that the corporate press has been a shameless shill for the U.S. government.
It would be totally astounding if the Bush regime and its supporters actually meant what they said about civil liberties and human rights instead of merely paying lip service to these ideals while so obviously violating them.
Clearly…
He shouldn’t be in prison.
I’m surprised why the article makes such a big deal of what Annan said. Call me insane, but maybe Annan really didn’t know enough about the case to comment, especially as the letter describing the case had only been sent to him yesterday….
Master Blaster in charge
The image of Master Blaster when I think of Rove and Bush.
Bush and Rove=Master Blaster
Tripping over his own hate….again.
Now you loathe the criminal American GI? I’ll make a note of this.
Given your hatred of another group, the corporate press, one would think you would approve of a little small arms fire
to scare those lackey’s in khaki’s away.
BTW you do recall this Judith Miller, the one you defend here, has an impressive record
shilling for King George? May I suggest an email to Blake re the possibility of a new “Do Over” button?
Lastly, I didn’t see this at Truthout or c-dreams.
Tripping over your own ignorance . . . again.
Those are typical right-wing misrepresentations, Tomeboy. Nuance really makes your head hurt, doesn’t it?
What I loathe is Imperial Amerika; run by an incompetent gang of thugs that doesn’t care who it kills so long as it gets its way.
What I loathe is the wholesale hypocrisy of the Bush regime that shamelessly exploits a lackey press and then shits all over it at its convenience. Of which Judith Miller is merely the most recent example.
As for Pfc Stephen Tschiderer, he is the exception to the norm; like Joe Wilson, he is a man who will do what is right even in the face of a nihilistic and egocentric corporate environment. I wonder if the American public will see illustrations of the norm in the lackey corporate press.
It is so sad and typical that you should cite a single example of a good man doing what is right as if it repudiates the murder of a 100,000 innocents in unjustifiable military misadventurism.
And by the way, why haven’t you been demanding that Bush stand up and fire Karl Rove for committing treason the way Bush said he would? Do I detect the double stand morality of self-righteousness from someone who hates Democrats and blames Clinton for Bush’s failure to protect Amerika?
Re:Tripping over your own ignorance . . . again.
Well, I’ll be damned. The story made it into the New York Times: 11 American Soldiers Charged With Abuse. The story was also published by China Daily, the Houston Chronicle, and Guardian Unlimited; as of 10:50 EST, 16 July 2005. Google does not mention the NYT article, however.
